Cypher VI is the College of William & Mary's annual hackathon. We'll come together for a weekend and learn new stuff, have fun, and create cool projects. Come on down to learn from our workshops, get to know tech companies both local and nationwide, or compete for prizes! We pride ourselves on being accessible and welcoming to everyone, regardless of your skill or experience. So try something new! It's Cypher!
This year, Cypher VI is completely online! We will be using Discord as our main platform for the event and Youtube livestreams for the opening and closing ceremonies, tech talks, and showing off hacks at the end of the hackathon. You can make a Discord account here. All livestreams will be recorded and available on the Cypher YouTube channel afterwards.
New this year, we're branching out to all kinds of projects. Code or no code, if you can make it in a weekend, we want to see what you can do!
Cypher VI is for anyone and everyone. Whether you've pioneered new machine learning techniques or you've never written a line of code in your life, we've got you covered. Cypher is for people of all interests and backgrounds, so if you've ever considered trying something new, now's your chance!
The Earth Hacks Foundation partners with hackathons at colleges across the USA. At Earth Hacks events, hackers are challenged to generate innovative, actionable solutions to pressing environmental problems. At Cypher, Earth Hacks will provide an exciting array of workshops and challenges for people of all majors and backgrounds to learn from. The goal of Earth Hacks is to create an inclusive space for everyone to become hackers - not just the STEM majors! - because environmental problems are everyone's problems.

To be announced!
Absolutely not! People who haven’t written a single line of code are welcome! We will have workshops at the start of the hackathon to get you started and mentors throughout the hackathon to make sure you get the help you need.
To be announced - we've got $3500 in cash and prizes up for grabs!
Anyone currently in higher education or high school, or anyone who has graduated in the last 12 months is eligible to attend Cypher.
The maximum number of members per team is 4. We’ll have team-building activities at the start of Cypher, so don’t worry if you don’t have a team yet!
Come with ideas, but no code can be written prior to the event.
All hackers are subject to the MLH Code of Conduct. Following these rules will help us create an environment that makes everyone feel safe and welcome no matter their background.
